The Purfekt Family's 2nd Yuletide Letter - and More Holiday Hogwash
A Hilarious and Heartwarming Holiday Revue
December 2010 This uplifting revue takes a candid and knowing look at a seasonal tradition - the family holiday letter. Mary Purfekt, the over-worked, over-stressed and exhausted mother of the Purfekt Family, has taken on the task of writing the their second Holiday Letter. With the hard, cold facts of family-life reality being less then ideal, Mary’s creative side begins to show itself in the telling of the past year’s memorable events. A number of witty sketches, along with many cleverly arranged songs and medleys (some familiar and some not so familiar), bring Mary’s stories to life and often expose the reality behind them. Through the likely all-too-recognizable life of the Purfekt Family, enjoy and experience everything from parody as in the “slightly revised” version of Do You Hear What I Hear, to the traditional and touching, I’ll Be Home for Christmas. Celebrating the season with the amusing “A Yultide Letter from the Purfekt Family Dinner Theatre Experience”, is certain to make you laugh, cry and relieve some holiday stress, so that by the 12th day of Christmas you still: care what your true love gives to you, believe that every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings and want to hear the little drummer boy going, “Pa-rum-pa-pum-pum,” on his drum.
Let's Get All Shook Up: A Tribute to the King of Rock and Roll January 2011
Born in Mississippi, on January 8, 1935, and rising from poverty to fame throughout the 1950's, he revolutionized American music forever; Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll. The influence of the pop, country, gospel and black R&B he heard growing up contributed to the unique musical styling of Elvis Presley. That unique musical style, handsome smile and revolutionary dance are what grabbed the hearts of Americans and people the world over back in the 50's and are what keeps The King alive in our hearts still today. Join Apple Holler's Red Barn Theatre, in paying tribute to this entertaining and talented man as we celebrate Elvis Presley in, Let's Get All Shook Up: A Tribute to the King of Rock and Roll. Your toes will be tappin' and hips will be shakin' to: Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, All Shook up, and many more favorite hits. To add flavor of the celebration, enjoy a Southern themed meal just like Elvis' Mama would have made. A fun and interactive combination of song, vignettes, stories and food will make this a unique way to celebrate the birthday of this American icon.
